Splinterlands: What Makes This Game a Top Achiever
Splinterlands (SPS) recently completed a sale for node licenses, setting up a burning mechanism for SPS.
- Splinterlands (SPS) token stabilized around $0.09 after node license presale.
- Game may consider non-card NFT, no precise date set.
- Land sale also considered for 2022 milestone.
Splinterlands remains the leading game based on DappRadar data, with top visits unrivaled for monts. The game uses the WAX and HIVE blockchains, hence the increased speed. The other factor is that WAX managed to target gamers, achieving a wider audience in comparison to crypto enthusiasts.
Splinterlands hosts more than 330K users in 24 hours, easily 15 times more than the most active purely P2E games. Currently, even Axie Infinity hosts around 11K players. Splinterlands uses the card battle game, differentiating itself by the speed of matches and the potential to earn with every battle.
SPS Token Expects Boost from Node License Sales
The earnings potential of Splinterlands has been flat since the start of 2022, with SPS token hovering close to $0.10.
The game recently released a tentative roadmap for improvements. The curious thing about Splinterlands is that it has achieved a high player count, while lacking some of the features of other card and P2E games. Splinterlands has considered launching metaverse land plots. Additionally, the game will consider building a native blockchain, where SPS may be used in validator nodes.
Splinterlands performed a validator node sale on May 25, selling out the event in 11 minutes. The presale event will be a part of new node sales in the future.
Validator nodes will be able to gain more SPS over time for securing the game’s network. Running the node software with a license is a tool for both security and community engagement, as well as a sink for SPS tokens.
There's less than 60 days left in the SPS airdrop! Well over 50% of all SPS is staked in game. None of us may ever have enough SPS, but that doesn't stop us from burning millions and building up the DAO:#splinterlands #sps #hive #playtoearn #GameFi https://t.co/of5LbgMqmq pic.twitter.com/5r08pgqNL3

The expansion of node operator licenses will continue to burn SPS, as 80% of the received tokens will be destroyed, while 20% will be put in a DAO reserve. This will bring back value to SPS holders and the community. Currently, there are about 24% of SPS in circulation, out of a total supply of 3B tokens.
Splinterlands has considered a game-first approach, thus making the token slightly less important. SPS is held in 45,781 addresses based on BSCScan data, making the token separate from the WAX and HIVE smart contracts for the rest of the game.
