Oasis Network Offers Web3 Privacy Tools for Developers
Oasis is already hosting DeFi apps and a few games, but plans to become the privacy layer for any already existing apps on other blockchains.
- Oasis is one of the well-established networks, now offering a newly launched privacy layer.
- Oasis has a fund to support developer teams for private Web3 apps, and will organize hackathons.
- Sapphire network will offer bridges to Ethereum and other L1 blockchains that host Web3 apps.
Oasis Networks is one of the protocols well-known for crypto users. Now, Oasis is switching to offer additional privacy tools for Web3 developers. Oasis is offering scalable technology that can also send out private transactions, which are extremely difficult to trace. While this technology was disputed for traders, game and NFT developers may make use with fewer regulatory limitations.

The Oasis Privacy Layer is the newest addition, launched in early 2023. The goal for Oasis is to grab a share and become a fixture in the growing Web3 space. Having a privacy layer and a gas fee layer means all apps can use Oasis and Sapphire for some of their transactions while paying fees for their home networks.
This will turn all apps built on chains like Ethereum, Avalanche and others, into potential privacy apps. One of the use cases will be private NFT ownership. Oasis will also build a bridge to Ethereum and other L1 chains, offering seamless movement of assets between networks.
Oasis Builds an EVM-Compatible Privacy Layer
What Oasis changes is that all completed apps, which are compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), can now add a privacy layer without needing to migrate the app. Developers are especially called to use Sapphire, one of the first entirely private blockchains, to add a privacy layer to their apps.
Did you know that the greatest feature of Sapphire is that, provided a dApp is running on an EVM network, devs can use it to add confidentiality to existing dApps? Oasis has set aside developer tools and a learning center to showcase its privacy technology. Oasis also has a grants program for teams building Web3 apps on the private Sapphire network. The Oasis team has set aside up to $235M in the fund to support Web3 adoption. Oasis also plans to continue its hackathons to find talent and support new building ideas.
Oasis is already using its core network to host apps, and is one of the established blockchains for the past few years. For now, Oasis hosts mostly DeFi apps, but has one active game with NFT, Blockchain Cuties, which is now building up its value. Other games have lower on-chain statistics and may be using off-chain transactions.
