P2E and Web3 Weekly Review (February 17 – February 24, 2023)

P2E games remain hot, with NFT mints getting more strict curation.

Gaming and Web3 is consolidating, usually picking one of the top blockchains. A few P2E game projects also venture out with their own blockchain. NFT mints tied to games also continue to recruit new buyers and players, and more projects are flocking in to curate the new offerings and games. Web3 features are not tied to a list, and games pick and choose which items to add.

Top Events of the Week

Leading Games by Number of Users

Top games stick to their usual spots, with relatively small fluctuations. Within the top 20 of P2E games, Sunflower Land reached more than 13K players, after launching social events and treasure hunts on Treasure Island. Axie Infinity also sees a final boost of players as it reaches the end of Origins Season 2.

P2E Token Price Action

The market cap of all P2E tokens slid slightly to $6.81B, after a relatively calm week on the P2E market. Game projects keep focusing more on fun and ownership than monetization and free market trading.

Upcoming Airdrops and Giveaways

NFT mints remain an important factor for P2E and Web3 games. Quality mints with potential value are still in demand.

The best approach is to use a brand-new wallet for mints, only loading enough funds for gas fees. Also, check gas fees in advance to make sure free collections will not bring exorbitant hidden costs. New mints remain a tool to join games early, and more P2E games abandon the model of over-priced NFT flipping, in exchange for low cost and incentives to hold items for the longer term.
