P2E and Web3 Weekly Review (February 3- February 10, 2023)

Axie Infinity enters the later stage of its Origins Season 2, still bringing in around 12K players.

The first months of the new year saw many of the older games entering a new phase. Open alpha and beta launches marked the past week, with projects going game-first and leaving tokenization for later. Games still offer NFT, though the pricing is more reasonable. Mystery boxes, tickets and battle passes are also a hot type of NFT, often used to raise a prize pool.

Leading Games by Number of Users

Top games by player count saw around 10% outflow in the past week, though within the top 20 some games boosted engagement with special events. Games within more blockchain interactions, giveaways or special prize distributions also climb the list. Axie Infinity is just below 12K daily players, and has entered the second half of its Origins Season 2.

P2E Token Price Action

The market cap of all P2E tokens lowered their total valuation to $6.11B, though still close to their recent highs.

Upcoming Airdrops and Giveaways

Free NFT may also require gas fee, so always check the conditions of the mint. Avoid using full wallets and only mint through official links. NFT mints do not guarantee price growth, but they can ensure early participation in games, communities, as well as secure new giveaways. Free drops, especially on networks with low gas fees, may be a tool to explore Web3 ownership and new games without a large upfront investment.
