Axie Infinity Releases New Summer Skins for Rare Axies

Rare features on Axies can still boost their market price.
  • Axie Infinity carries less players, while still lacking full seasons and token rewards.
  • Rare Axie collections will feature summer-themed skins, possibly fetching higher resale prices.
  • Breeding still not sufficient to burn SLP.

Axie Infinity has not abandoned the potential of Axies as collectibles. New rare Axies may be added during a summer-themed breeding event with unusual skins and attributes.

The supply of Axies is already large enough, but breeding will also mop up some of the excess Smooth Love Potion (SLP). Breeding Axies is not essential to the game, as Origin players can start with a free team of three characters. But rarity is still a feature to command higher valuations.

The price floor has fallen off Axie NFT, but some of the more unusual NFT still change hands at much higher valuations than common Axies. Axie sales continue at all ranges, creating a small competition for rare traits and certain new skins.

Axie Infinity Player Cound Slides

Axie Infinity is losing players, falling to the sixth position among the busiest blockchain games. Even with the free Origin version, players fell to 33.26K, putting Axie Infinity out of the Top 5 where it landed initially.

Currently, the active player count is just a tenth of the score achieved during peak times a year ago. With no open seasons and more limited earnings potential, Axie is still ahead of newer P2E games, but its player base is now much lower.

The Sky Mavis team still prepares to launch leaderboards and SLP rewards for Origin by the end of 2022.

The Axie token assets have also stagnated, with AXS at $13.22 and SLP at $0.0032. For now, land staking may be the most profitable activity, though still with much lower returns for players that acquired land assets at the peak.

Ronin Tweaks Wallet for New Fee Schedule

The Ronin wallet will now have the RON token as the default option to pay for network fees. Some transactions remain free to give a minimum game participation.

RON slid from its previous tier above $0.50 and now trades around $0.037. RON fees remain small to encourage more game engagement.
