The new year opened with some worrying signals of overall price corrections for digital coins and tokens. But the performance of newly launched projects, especially through Binance Launchpad, suggests there are other games and platforms to watch in 2022. The play to earn space has a significant backlog of building, with the potential for many launches in the coming months.
Binance Launchpad was already behind the immense success of Axie Infinity and The Sandbox, some of the most widely known game titles in play to earn space. The support and marketing platform extended its influence over a new batch of projects, which were relatively obscure in 2021.
By the end of the year, most Binance Launchpad projects showed significant gains, with some in the thousands of percentages. While those tokens may remain volatile, they may also become the basis for new growth in the space.
Not all Binance Launchpad projects were linked to play to earn, and many aimed at DeFi business models which remained highly popular in 2021.
Binance Launchpad Hosts Play to Earn in the Wild
Not all play to earn games are represented on Binance Launchpad. Binance Smart Chain has a wide collection of game projects in various stages. Among those, projects like Thetan Arena stand out with a completed game ecosystem.
A dozen games are already running, with more in the development pipeline or in alpha testing stages.
The number of unique addresses on BSC grew with a steady trend in 2021, as the chain become one of the most active for new project creation. There are now more than 127M unique addresses on BSC.
When it comes to new projects, Binance Launchpad is more conservative. But BSC Launchpad is a separate project with a much more active fundraising list. However, BSC Launchpad token sales are riskier.
Play to earn tokens remained rather conservative in the past year, with the most popular ones still at the top in terms of market capitalization. The overall market valuation further dropped to $23B. The latest market shakedown took AXS to $72.90, and Decentraland (MANA) broke its rally to slide to $2.95.
