Pixelmon Reforged, the new iteration of the cult Minecraft mode, is entering the play to earn space with a public NFT minting event. Pixelmon Reforged is based on the cult Minecraft mod that introduced Pokemon into the sandbox universe.
The mint is happening within a 24-hour period and ends on February 8, 1 PM EST, with a falling price Dutch auction.
What Makes Pixelmon Hot
Pixelmon does not follow the model of selling avatar pictures. Instead, it takes the already established craze for modded Minecraft and builds detailed, appealing 3D characters to add to an already high-grade gaming universe. The NFT mint means the player will always be in control of their avatar as it accrues value within the game.
Owning a Generation 1 NFT will also give access to the game’s future roadmap milestones. Early buyers of the playable characters will also have early access to the Pixelmon Reforged token mint in Q2, 2022, as well as early registration for the test alpha stage coming later in 2022. Early buyers will also be eligible for the first round of metaverse land plot sales.
7,750 Pixelmon Go on Sale in Three Stages
The initial stage, or the public Dutch auction, will open up the whole collection of 7,750 Pixelmon characters. The price at the end of the auction will be no lower than 0.2 ETH. The next stage will begin on February 8, with a sale price equal to 25% of the price for the last Pixelmon sold at the Dutch auction.
The third stage will sell any remaining NFTs as a private placement. Each Ethereum wallet will be able to mint up to two Pixelmon NFTs.
NFT Mint to Speed Game Building
The Pixelmon Reforged project starts with a Dutch auction price of 2.7 ETH per item, a relatively high valuation. As the auction gets closer to the end, it will measure the price that early buyers are ready to pay for the NFTs.
With this accelerated funding approach, Pixelmon Reforged will be able to hire talent faster and speed up game development.
