- Over 2,000 projects applied to build sub-games using the Axie themes.
- AXS stabilized above $20, SLP still near lows of $0.0051.
- Season 21 attracts around 10K players daily, a small share of previous season levels.
Sky Mavis, the producer of Axie Infinity and Origin, established a Builders Program to encourage and organize the creation of sub-games. Until now, only small-scale projects appeared, attempting to return the appeal of the original game.
Mini games and user-created content may help as Axie earnings fell from a steady $300 per month or more for some users, down to $5 or less. Mini game participation may also require the burning of SLP tokens, or the ownership of Axies.
The official Builders program will start out with 12 mini-games in the pipeline.
Interest in Axie gameplay has not diminished, with a total of 2,000 projects applying for the grants. Currently, there are attempts to build mini-games on the Ronin network. But the full expansion of the Builders Program may evolve into tapping big game studios to create experiences in Axie Infinity.
The growth of Axie Infinity Origin, Sky Mavis and Ronin are encouraging, as this was one of the first games to lose its initial P2E attraction during the 2022 bear market.
Axie Infinity Strives to Retain Players
Axie Infinity continues its last season, with just under 10K players, all moved to the Ronin network. In the past year, many P2E games abandoned Ethereum, especially those used more heavily. The game now tries to rebuild its model with zero or low fees.
AXS, the game’s native token, stabilized at around $20.41. Smooth Love Potion (SLP) is down to $0.0051, the chief reason for the almost negligible Axie earnings. RON stalled at $0.47, for now not positively affected by promises of burning tokens.
Origin game still has no P2E model, but the upgrades are working on in-game balances. One of the reasons players pick those games is to make in-game progress without watching the value of assets.
At the same time, the game is getting closer to land staking, which would benefit owners of Genesis land plots the most.
As with other games, Axie may remain somewhat profitable for leagues and early owners, while focusing on tournament rewards and one-off winnings.
