The Sandbox opened another part of its map for sale, offering plots in the Metavex district. The latest digital land NFT offering arrives just days ahead of Season 2 Alpha start.
The Sandbox is still struggling behind NFT Worlds to take the top spot in terms of secondary NFT sales. But the game is also one of the hubs with the most celebrity and corporate experiences and prominent land plots and estates.
The Metavex district will be dedicated to Japanese culture and J-pop. The Sandbox metaverse already features a recreation of the Shibuya district in Tokyo, expanding its experiences with cool urban culture.
Alpha Season Opening in Hours
The Sandbox Alpha Season will start this March 3, with three initial experiences. New experiences will be open every day.
Alpha Season 2 will be available for Mac and PC, requiring the creation of an account. For The Sandbox, a MetaMask wallet is needed, though the game will not ask for a deposit of funds.
The gameplay, as with the first round of the Alpha test, will distribute SAND awards over time.
SAND Token Keeps Off Lows
The mix of positive news for The Sandbox is helping keep the SAND token above its monthly lows.
After a dip toward $2.50, SAND is now standing at $3.24, still a distance from its monthly peak above $4.80. SAND has hoped to regain its $5 tier and possibly move higher, especially in the case of a full beta launch for the wider public. But even the current price levels suggest SAND may break out soon to a higher tier.
SAND is still enjoying high-level exposure on social media.
Exposure to SAND competes with demand for Decentraland (MANA) and NFT Worlds (WRLD) tokens. However, SAND has one of the strongest brand cultures, propped up by the immense influence of Animoca Brands.
The Sandbox game has still not let players create NFT items. But the community can participate in sporadic building competitions, with significant SAND rewards.
