P2E and Web3 Weekly Review (April 21- April 28)

Web3 games retain users with tournament events, adding prize pools and NFT rewards.

Web3 games continue to evolve, adding more sustainable tools to bring earnings. Ticketed tournaments, e-sports events and short-term competitions are now a staple. Game projects also attempt to become wider Web3 hubs with additional DeFi services and other tools. Games long in development in the past few years are reaching their milestones, with many growing communities. The Web3 space is trying to build up additional liquidity, as well as consolidate projects through partnerships. Solana retains its importance despite previous problems with network outages and the FTX exchange financials.

Leading Games by Number of Users

The top 10 of games turned more active in the past week, after Iskra ran out of steam and was replaced by other games. Among hot P2E projects, Second Live rose to prominence. Sunflower Land is back in the top 10, awaiting its next special seasonal challenge. Sweat Economy is a new game entering the top 5, while Nine Chronicles retains its positions close to the top 10. Overall, games at the top have highly finished products, or come from Web2. The high user count depends on the game smart contracts, which require real-time records of matches, NFT usage or token transfers.

P2E Token Price Action

The market cap of all P2E tokens moved down to $5.69B in a relatively flat week, where BTC touched levels under $28,000 but recovered above $29,000 ahead of the weekend. Tokens remain important for incentives and IDOs, though valuations remain flat compared to the boom times of P2E.

Upcoming Airdrops and Giveaways

NFT mints are still attracting buyers, especially for collections that are promising to generate hype. Collections with low mint prices still trend soon after the art reveal, creating demand for new mints. Most mints happen on Ethereum or its scalable L2 chains, avoiding gas wars. Solana remains a hot spot for NFT mints and trading, with a new standard of compressed NFT with optimized blockchain records. Minting new NFT is best done through official links. Avoid storing all NFT and tokens on a single wallet to diminish the risk of exploits.
