SnakeCity Prepares for App Launch, Paid Tournaments

SnakeCity to launch a Windows app, training version to stop after January 19.
  • SnakeCity plans to launch a Windows app and open paid tournaments.
  • Tournaments will have tickets with a tentative price of 1,000 SNCT.
  • SnakeCity will offer Helmets and Boosters to gain an advantage in each tournament leaderboard.

SnakeCity is one of the first games to use an Avalanche subnet and gather a starting player base of thousands of users. Now, SnakeCity hinted at building a Windows-based app and launching it early this year.

The app launch will happen within weeks based on the game’s plans. The goal is to start with regular SnakeCity tournaments powered by the new Windows app. For that reason, SnakeCity will disable its training game this week, moving into competitive play.

The app will make SnakeCity accessible to all as a free-to-play game. The success of SnakeCity and Crabada already lifted the usage of Swimmer Network, the Avalanche subnet. Swimmer Network now has 29,415 registered wallets accrued within a six-month time period.

Until now, SnakeCity only had sporadic events, as in the cases of the FIFA World Cup Tournament. However, the game will now enter a model of two weekly short-term tournaments, to bring players together. The model is somewhat similar to Crabada’s approach of having a weekly arena challenge.

SnakeCity Brings Paid, Dynamic Tournaments

To make its P2E model sustainable, SnakeCity will make tickets for its tournament. Each ticket is good for 15 minutes of play, respawning after 5 seconds when defeated.

The ticket price will most probably be 1,000 SNCT tokens, though this may change. The Tickets will be a separate type of NFT sold in the game’s marketplace. Tournaments on SnakeCity will not be generic, may be different events with varied tiers and a different price. Helmets cannot be sold back on the NFT market once equipped.

SNCT will also be needed to buy armor, with different tiers of rarity ranging from 200-400 SNCT and improving survival. Players can also add 2,000 SNCT for boosting items, ending up with more points at the end of each game. Each tournament will produce its own short-term leaderboard. Only the top 3 scoring players will receive the prize pool. Tournaments will be relatively accessible, as SNCT currently trades at $0.0026.
