P2E and Web3 Game Watch: The Gaming Week in Review (November 11 – November 18, 2022)

The P2E market was affected by the fallout of the FTX exchange, though ETH prices kept to a baseline and helped the tokens retain some of their value.

P2E and Web3 games keep their shift from earnings-focused to game-focused. New launches and special events continue to grab attention, while older games are tweaking their model to make it more competitive and rewarding. The inflow of new games is more often from apps already completed. Older games, a year into their production, are also reaching their launch date, as in the case of Fables of Fyra and Pixels Online.

Top Events of the Week

Leading Games by Number of Users

The leading games kept adding users, though the top list shifted after Gameta started counting its transactions through BNB Chain. The game migrated to limit its exposure to the Solana ecosystem and pick a new source of token liquidity. Within the top 30 of games, most of the surviving and relatively successful P2E projects still retain some of their gamer base.

P2E Token Price Action

The market cap of all P2E tokens slid to $4.02B, taken lower by the overall uncertainty of the crypto markets. P2E games are struggling with the fallout from the crash of the FTX exchange,

Ethereum (ETH) still holds close to $1,200, offering some support to game assets. But most games are trying to offer new types of value such as ownership and NFT to mark game progress.
